I, the undersigned, understand that volunteerism at St. Joseph Social Service Center may involve lifting, and/or handling of food products. I am expected to follow safety rules and all other rules related to the Center. I hereby accept and assume full responsibility for any injury I might suffer while volunteering. I will take all precautions to maintain a safe environment. St. Joseph Social Service Center will take all precautions to provide and maintain a safe environment for its volunteers. I have received and read the guidelines for St. Joseph Social Service Center and agree to take responsibility for my actions.

Harassment Free Policy:
St. Joseph Social Service Center is committed to an environment that is professional and harassment free. Harassment includes sexual harassment and harassment based on an individual’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, transgender status, national origin, age, disability (physical or mental), medical condition, genetic information, veteran’s status, military service, marital status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law. Our Policy also prohibits any act of bullying that targets an individual or group of people and threatens, humiliates or intimidates them, or interferes with their work. Prohibited conduct includes: verbal conduct (such as jokes, threats, slurs, epithets, stereotyping, unwelcome comments about a person’s protected characteristics, or offensive or derogatory voicemails); physical conduct (such as physically interfering with work, or impeding or blocking movements based on a person’s protected characteristics); and visual conduct (such as racially offensive, derogatory or obscene videos, emails, texts, photographs, calendars, posters, cards, cartoons, drawings, gestures, unwelcome notes or letters, or any other written or graphic material). Where inappropriate conduct has occurred, specific disciplinary action and including discharge where appropriate will be implemented. Employees/volunteers are encouraged to inform the harasser directly that the conduct is unwelcome and must stop. Employees/volunteers should also report harassment to management at an early stage to prevent its escalation.
Drug Free Policy:
The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of a controlled substance is not allowed in St. Joseph Social Service program sites. Additionally, volunteers may not be impaired by any substance while serving. Such action may result in your immediate dismissal from the volunteer position.
Dress Code:
As a volunteer, and representative of St Joseph Social Service Center you are responsible for presenting a positive image to clients and to the community. Recommended to use appropriate dress attire for the conditions and performance of your volunteer work. We require the use of closed toe shoes.
Corrective Action:
Corrective action may be taken at any time following an incident or annual evaluation. Examples of corrective action include the requirement of additional training, re-assignment of a volunteer to a new position, suspension of the volunteer, or dismissal from volunteer service.
Property Policy:
As a volunteer at St. Joseph Social Service Center, you will respect the property of St. Joseph and the personal property of other volunteers and staff.
Safety:
St. Joseph Social Service Center is committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for staff , volunteers and the clients we serve.
Personal Involvement with Clients:
If your volunteer position involves working directly with clients, it is important to maintain boundaries in order to keep an ethical and professional environment. Volunteers should refrain from receiving or giving gifts to clients unless it is in good faith or means of celebration. We also ask that volunteers refrain from doing any “special favors” for certain clients whatsoever.
